RiffsNRaagas, a Los Angeles based contemporary Indian music band, sprouted and grew from the common desire in a group of individuals to use music as the medium for self-expression. The music of RiffsNRaagas is unique, and is a collage of all the inspirations and influences that each band member has encountered in their journey as artists.
RiffsNRaagas was founded by Noel Joseph and Raj Munu in early 2011, along with their musician friends Nisha Kiran, Nisha Mani, Pratheep Mohanan, Roshini Chandran, Ramnath Bhagavath, and Shriram Bhagavath.
With the encouragement from the families and friends, the band became busy performing cover songs in various Indian languages at fundraisers and charity shows across Southern California, catering to a wide variety of audiences. RiffsNRaagas started experimenting with different genres of music, and the creative challenges that came along with it turned to be the perennial source of stimulus for the band.
In the course of time, the band’s incessant urge for musical self-expression led it to explore avenues beyond just doing covers on stage, culminating in the composition and production of their debut album titled "Yatra – Our Journey” in August 2012.
Looking into the future, RiffsNRaagas yearns to be seen as a band that touches and embraces people from many cultures and languages, with its musical compositions that span an expansive array of themes including social messages. RiffsNRaagas hopes to be your wide-open door to gain entry into your pristine world of musical consciousness.
