The Primal Rhythm Ensemble is a female drum ensemble based in Cleveland, Ohio. It was created by Sue Balaschak out of a desire to bring her studio CD's to the stage and share the power of drumming in a live setting. When we drum, we connect our mind, body, and spirit to all living things. The Primal Rhythm Ensemble brings together a diverse and talented group of women to engage the audience in the wave of energy created by drumming.
Sue Balaschak has been playing the drums professionally since the age of 12. As the drummer for bands including Burning Sage and Telling Point, Sue has shared billings with such talented musicians as Rusted Root, Michael Schenkar, Hot Tuna, and New Riders of the Purple Sage. She has performed with Drumplay and Grammy nominee Peter Janson, and has opened for international bestselling author Wayne Dyer. Sue's first hand drumming CD, "Primal Rhythm 1" received rave reviews in national publications and is featured in the national documentary, "Return of the Cuyahoga", airing on PBS. "Primal Rhythm 2", featuring Dun Duns and Djembe, is now available.
Drumming taps into our inner being by connecting our energy with the sound waves of the universe. Music is organized sound. Sound is the oscillating energy current that flows through every living thing. As energy flows, so does spirit. When we drum, we connect our mind, body, and spirit to all living things and open ourselves to peace and harmony. Drumming starts as entertainment and becomes a powerful healing experience.
