Swedish power pop quartet Private Jets is back with “Jet Sounds” – a full length album packed with smooth melodies, lush harmonies and dynamic guitars. This is a strong follow up to their critically acclaimed EP ”A four-leaf clover in E major”.
Founded in 2001 by twin brothers Erik Westin and Per Westin, Private Jets started out mainly as a song writing and recording project. They soon realized they needed the power of a full band so Janne Hellman was recruited as lead vocalist together with Mikael Olsson on bass. They released ”A four-leaf clover in E major” in March 2002 and many power pop lovers around the world were thrilled by the songs. Power of Pop.com for example, said it ”boasts mellifluous strength, sumptuous chord changes, classy studio work and divine harmonies – power pop splendor to the nth degree!”.
“Brilliant debut EP by one of Sweden’s purest popsters!”
It was now clear they had to create a full length album and strive for nothing less than power pop perfection. With their mind set to make an album filled with singles only, Erik and Per sat down and wrote 43 new songs. The band chose to record twelve of these and the result can be heard on “Jet Sounds”.
In may 2008 Private Jets made their live debut at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, playing the International Pop Overthrow. An extra show was added.
