ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Project M is a unique string quartet consisting of Michael Manring, Grant Stinnett, Rob Gourlay, and Jim Stinnett. This band of blazing bassists is no ordinary act. No bottom heavy, muddy, sluggish grooves here. Project M is four virtuoso musicians who cover all aspects of great music making. Harmony, melody, dynamics, and finesse are words normally not associated with multiple bass groups, but these guys will surprise and delight you. Dazzling technique, beautiful compositions, tasteful performance, and a host of sounds come from each player to form a very impressive polyphony.

\"I had no idea four basses could sound so good together.\"

This product includes an additional dvd disc, Making Project M. Making Project M is a full length documentary look behind the scenes of the process of producing Project M. Making Project M includes interviews with all musicians as well as luthier Chris Stambaugh. A special \"in the studio\" chapter details the recording process.

Incredible musicianship
I am a bass player myself, so perhaps I am disposed toward the sound of bass, but I have never heard 4 basses playing together making such wonderful music before. I knew that Michael Manring was incredible, though. In fact, she sometimes dominates this CD. The other three are certainly not slouches, though. All four are good musicians and excellent bassists. You can probably tell that I love this CD. The addition of the DVD is a real bonus, too. There are interviews with the band members and a behind the scenes look at the production of the CD. This set is so much more than worth the money.
