Album Notes
A hopeless romantic, and a manic depressive,
Dance in my mind every moment like the past and the present,
It's a mix of emotions I still hold with a female,
and being six listening to the ocean in a seashell

- from 'Metamorphosis'

Dark and introspective, 'Think' immerses the listener in a world we all somehow know. A world of loss, constant change, and the absurd, but at the same time a world equally full of humor, excitement, and the sublime. The world of 'Think' is one of the mind, where states are ever shifting, and where experiences are shaped. The album moves between images of lost youth in the small town of Lennoxville, Quebec - the dead-end community where Prolific grew up - to struggles and adventures in the supernatural city of Montreal. The vast soundscape captures these separate worlds - from an open field in 'The Crow', to the cold streets in 'Constellation Jazz' or the side of the road in 'Metamorphosis' - the music breathes experience. Prolific steps in as the narrator of this experience - his voice blends with the soundscape and guides the listener with knowledge and charisma.

"I heard this life's a cant miss, an empty last wish,
It's like falling in love with the girl who can't kiss"
- from Post Generation X

Prolific's music distinguishes itself from traditional rap with its poetic content and his clear desire to connect with listeners as people. 'Think' innovates in the fusion of poetry and rap. From the poetry world Prolific draws on the Beat Generation, the Romantic Poets, and the Modernists. Poetry enthusiasts may recognize the voices of Ginsberg and Kerouac, as well as references to the work of Samuel Coleridge and William Butler Yeats. Prolific's also draws from the indie-rap scene made popular by acts like Atmosphere, Sage Francis, and Aesop Rock. His music takes the style that these pioneers laid down and continues the progression of rap as a vivid means of expression.

"Keep that blue collar up cuz the day was long,
head high after 50 year of the same job,
Men'll talk glory days, though they never hand em,
cuz somewhere in their minds, they know they were handsome..."
- from Think

With 13 studio-recorded tracks and beats by underground hip hop's top producers, Engineer - (Wu-Tang, Sean Price, Diabolic) and Equalibrum - (Juice, Mac Lethal, Okwerdz) "Think" is a collector's must for any true underground hip hop head. That being said, Prolific's broad range of influences and eclectic sound also makes 'Think' meaningful to the more casual listener. "Think" delivers on all levels and is a rare example of rap casting away the superficial and delivering something real.

Raised in small town Lennoxville Quebec, Prolific grew up in a world seperate from urban culture. However, rap in the mainstream media had reached such a point that it even spilled into his community. The young artist, fascinated by the hip hop culture, took the raw content and attitude found in the music of East New York, Detroit, and LA and began making it his own. He built rhyme schemes and songs on their influence but filled them with the content of his own life. His writing began as a reflection on solitude, nature, a youthful obsession with sex and death along with a rejection of the narrow-minded reality of his small town.

Organizing shows and battles at his highschool, he performed every opportunity he got. As his hunger grew he would often perform in neighbouring cities for all-french crowds, transcending the language gap with his unmatched flow. He formed a crew with fellow english rapper No Reason, and formed the now defunct group Unpredictable Stylez. The two mcs travelled across Quebec in an old beat up Cavalier battling any and all mcs that would step up. It was in these days that Prolific's skills were fine-tuned, spending everyday there was no show with hours of cyphers in a local park.

By the time he was 19, Prolific was known as the top freestyler in easten Canada. He claimed titles such as Last Man Standing, and the Ligue Hip Hop Montreal 2006. He has now taken his music and battle skills to all major cities of Canada. His battle career has taken him across the U.S to Boston, New York, San Francisco and Cincinnati. In 2006, Prolific placed in the top 8 at Scribble Jam, cementing his position as one of the top battle mcs in North America. In 2007, he took part in the World Rap Championships with freestyle champion Aspire from Vancouver.

Despite a reputation on the battle scene, writing remains his true calling as he continues to perfect his craft in creating meaningful music that pushes the boundaries of rap. His passion for rap is balanced with a profound interest in poetry. His music is in essence a fusion of traditional poetic themes such as - lost childhood, heartbreak, the sublime, the search for truth - placed in the modern form of a rap verse. His live shows are a mix of written tracks and live-stream of consciousness freestyle. He has now released his first solo album - Think, recorded with legendary Montreal producer, Dj Horg.

2008 promises to be a big year for Prolific as he continues to branch out in the Canadian, American, and International hip hop scene.
