Album Notes
The first Kirtan/Mantra album recorded at the world famous Abbey Road Studios

Jagdeep Kaur embodies the great gifts of healing and music, with a lightness of touch that allows space for each to enhance the other. She invites you into her exploration of spirituality through music and Kirtan.
Her voice is shaped by the awareness of her many years of experience in a wide range of holistic therapies and imbued with deep-rooted, healing intention. Her experience has given her insight into how the meditative mind can open new dimensions, find new solutions and heal destructive patterns in our lives.

Amritpal Singh was born into the globally renowned Sikh Kirtani tradition as the son of Bhai Gurdiyal Singh Rasiya and initiated into Tabla at the tender age of eight. His understanding of rhythm and how it underpins the cycles of life, shine through his performance and teaching. His heart-felt instinct for rhythm will lift you out of your head and into the vibration of life.

Absolutely sublime!
Words can feel like a clumsy tool when describing an experience or an emotion, which will make describing the pleasure of listening to Qi-Rattan's first release awkward - but here goes... The song, Rakhe Rakhanhaar, is a relaxing and very uplifting piece, and large part of that has to be credited to a warmth in Jagdeep Kaur's voice - you can hear a smile in the words as they are sung. This is not to try and draw away from her work on the guitar, or Amritpal Singh's tabla playing; this is a song that takes its separate elements and weaves them together into a single, satisfying and above all positive whole.
I am now waiting impatiently (although calmly!) to see Qi-Rattan playing live next month, when they are supporting Mirabai Ceiba. And roll on the complete album, if all the tracks are to this standard!
