ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Look out for Canadian songstress and slide guitarist Rachelle van Zanten, whose raw melange of blues, folk, Americana and serious guitar-shredding is currently shaking up an audience of its own.

She has come a long way from her bluegrass upbringing in the foothills of northern British Columbia, recently recording a rock album, “Where Your Garden
Grows” with producer Joby Baker (Cowboy Junkies, Alex
Cuba, Mae Moore) and world-renowned sound engineer, Tchad
Blake (Sheryl Crow, Paul Simon, Tom Waits, Los Lobos,
Pearl Jam). “This sophomore album features an eclectic batch
of personal, straight from the heart lyrics highlighted by
intricate string and rhythm arrangements that should find a home in the ears of rock n’ roll junkies everywhere.” (Relix Magazine-Feb ‘09)

Rachelle is a unique and eclectic Americana
singer-songwriter much in the style of Lucinda Williams.
Rachelle has performed with such greats as Feist, Blue Rodeo,
Clarence Gatemouth Brown and Garth Hudson; and has
supported International acts that include the Indigo Girls,
Eagle Eye Cherry and Dar Williams. Rachelle's recent tour
schedule took her through Canada, the United Kingdom,
Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Sweden, Norway,
Denmark, India and Nepal.

In her “spare” time she is the producer of Western Canada’s
Rocker Girl Camp- a motivational music camp for girls ages
10-16 (www.rockergirlcamp.com).

Keeps Gettin Better
The more I listen to this record the more I hear and appreciate Rachelle's subtlety. Her music will get into your head and make you think. She has a way of layering lots of different musical styles together and making it work. You have to listen to this album at least 4 or 5 times to truly start to appreciate it. Her guitar and vocals are amazing. Thanks Rachelle and please come to Minneapolis soon !!
