Album Notes
Rebel's mastery of 1950s style rockabilly guitar combined with his skill at interpreting the 1960s Surf sound make records like Surfin & Rockin and Rockabilly Vampire modern classics.

As the reknowed Surf DJ Phil Dirt of KFJC said in his recent review, "This surf-rockabilly restyling is spectacular... very well played and sometimes very originally arranged, these tracks offer another view of the rock instro / surf idiom." If you love guitar music then Ralph Rebel's discs are essential listening.

Will sure be someones favorite
It is wellknown that different people have different taste. And basically I think that's a good thing. Even though I'm into rockabilly the "Rockabilly Vampire" album is not quite what turns me on. But I'm sure it will turn someone on. Because there's nothing from with it. The basic qualities are there, it works, and it sure swings and drives. Really moving forward, and making some harboiled, fullsouinding guitarplaing while doing it. It got some similarities with The Stray Cats (not surprising: Brian Setzer is in on it), but with a more electric sound, moving in the direction of things like George Thorogood, and on some few of the tracks with a tiny touch of jazzy big band swing. It got the energy and attitude. No doubt about that. In many ways youcould call it a smashing album, just not ecsactly what I am personally looking for. It still could be just what you are looking for. Check out for instance "Red Hot Mama" or "Old Poor Boy". It is great songs. Really. Even though it is not my thing, this album got a lot of convincing objective quality, and that's why I can recommand it to all rockabilly fans who are into this actual end/side of the style. If you ever dreamed about a fusion mixing elements of Stray Cats, George Thorogood, The Cramps and The Chevalier Brothers and perhaps adding a touch of Little Charly And The Nightcats or The Georgia Satelites, you can't go wrong - you gonna need several copies, one for the home, one for the car, one for work and a pair to use as gifts. You gonna love this!

Ralph rocks!
This is one of the greatest rockabilly cd's I have ever heard (and coming from a guy who was around in the 50's that's quite a statement). Ralph tears it up on these tracks. This is an awesome, awsome cd. If you like rockabilly, you'll like this cd. If you LOVE rockabilly, this cd is a MUST buy. God, how I would love to see this band live!
