Red Tape Riot is a hardworking indie rock band from Detroit, Michigan. Their debut EP entitled "Rally Behind The Big Wheels" showcases the bands unique "brand" of alternative indie rock - which features dynamic, layered musical arrangements, gritty musical performances and lyrics that will hit you in the chest. It features a unique blend of masterful drumming, bass lines that would make Flea proud, dynamic driven original guitar leads and vocal melodies worthy of airplay across the nation.
Independently funded and self-produced, RTR selected six songs that they felt the audience connected with and at the same time showcased their range as musicians. The disc includes:
Shelby’s Song (written about a close friend who was killed by a drunk driver) – Displays masterfully written musical arrangements, intensely meaningful lyrics and exceptional dynamic performances, as the band tirelessly worked to capture the spirit of Shelby and the emotions of her family and friends that cared so much about her. The singer does an amazing job conveying the raw emotions that the song embodies and that no doubt the listener will feel when they listen to this track.
Relapse (This is a Rescue) – This song showcases the bands command of rock which features stellar performances across the board and a vocal hook that will keep it on repeat on your iPod.
Beautiful – This is a signature RTR song and is a staple of the band’s style. In the words of Metro 37 Studios sound engineer, Kevin Sharpe “This song is already #1 in Japan.” Enough said.
Home – Features a unique change of pace from the other songs on the disc and is led by the piano and a bass line that beautifully swims within the open spaces. The vocals showcase depth and emotion as the singer expresses his love for his daughter and the sacrifices that every parent can relate to, leaving, when every fiber in your being is telling you to stay home with the ones you love.
Someone To Live For – Groove groove groove! Precision music sounds amazing and the band encompasses it, especially on this song. It is led by a crystal clear vocal hook that *CAUTION* will get lodged in your head for days.
Give It to God – features an original groove driven rhythm section that lies somewhere within its own genre. The lead guitar helps to pull it all together while the depth of the lyrics and unique melody allow this song to fit in amongst the best on the album.
