ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
THE RENEGADES: Paul Mutzabaugh (keyboards), Matt Ross (guitars), Frank Alongi (drums), and Jon Wegge (basses) -- are all very active in the Chicago music scene. They have all performed and recorded in many genres including: jazz, pop, country, blues/rock, gospel, etc. This wide range of proficiency allows for The Renegades to tackle their fairly complicated and musically demanding repetoire of original music. Formerly a more "straight ahead" jazz group, The Renegades' 2004 release, "Doppler Olympics", is the first record that represents their current progressive fusion sound.

The Renegades owe a debt of gratitude to Alex Hall - friend of the bandmembers, great drummer, and engineer for "Doppler Olympics". Also, a special thanks to Kick the Cat -- another Chicago fusion band who have been a huge influence on The Renegades' style in the last couple of years.

Another incredibly fresh release. Paul recommended Duncannon , but this is anotherexample of the totally unique sounding group enjoying the music with wonderful results and a joy for the listener.

jazzgroovo

one of the best fusion bands ever!
imagine the chick corea elektrik band meets the mahavishnu orchestra, the return to forever, the weather report and allan holdsworth. the day I discovered them I was totally blown away.
as a percussionist, I can say that frank alongi is one of the most incredible drummers I've ever heard.
3 albums is not enough: give us some more!!!!!!

Breath Taking
The first note of Doppler Olympics will grab you and send you to new heights of music listening pleasure. The creative style and intrict song writing of Paul Mutzabaugh should be the benchmark on which all bands of all styles should aspire to. Buy this CD today, you will not be dissapointed.

There's no question that this debut is jazz-influenced, but it's still very much a rocker! This release is comprised of songs that will catch you because of their haunting melodies. The raging hit "Good Night Shirt" is a classic with a repetitive ending tag that will be stuck in your head for days!
