Album Notes
Bridge is Ribouem’s first album. In spite of a long and rich musical career, it wasn’t until 2001 that he crossed to the other side and stepped into the space of a recording studio.

A self-taught and instinctive musician, Ribouem introduces his audience to an itinerary that encompasses a variety of rhythms and musical traditions of Africa. Every composition is an echo of the other - Bikutsis and Olanchas of his birthplace, Cameroon, Sahelian music , and the more urban sounds of Ghanaian High Life, Makossa and Afrobeat.

Ribouem leads you through a journey. He is a medium, a descendant of the ancient Griots of the continent, who has an ear for chants and melodies beyond his borders. He grasps the musical filament that crosses the oceans to the New World.

Because Bridge is also a homage to Jazz. It is a magical cauldron of rhythms and sounds into which the listener is invited to dive… and wait for the potion to take over the senses.
