ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album came about by one of those rare moments when the cosmos seems to align itself and everything just falls into place.

South African drummer Brian Abrahams (Abdullah Ibrahim trio) was visiting Adelaide, South Australia. Sitar and delruba player Josh Bennett had just got back from India, having played at Ravi Shankar's birthday party. UK flugelhorn player Ian Dixon was in town. Perfect timing by everybody to convene and record an album of meditation music!

Richard had been working on a suite of music that reflected his years of travels through the South Australian landscape. The Coorong was in drought and suffering years of human impacts all along Australia's major waterway. The Maralinga lands are a unique part of South Australia with an extraordinary history including atomic testing. The Big Murray Cod is Australia's signature river fish. Richard asked Brian to think like a big, strong fast fish on the drums. It worked a treat and Brian's energy inspired all of the playing on the album.
