ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Ricki Derek has been performing in smoky lounges and large auditoriums across North America for years. His experiences have not only refined his voice, but also given him the swagger to keep it fresh and exciting. He is a modern twist on the old school crooner. He brings his sense of humor to the stage, but takes the music quite seriously. In this day and age where people are longing for the coolness that Sinatra, Dino, and the rest represented, Ricki delivers with his own take on it. Hearing Ricki sing, you'd think you were at the Sands in 1965 when Count Basie was king of swing. Ricki's self titled cd is big band with a rock and roll attitude. After all, big band was rock before it found itself. Recorded live in the studio, Ricki and his seventeen piece big band capture the energy and soul of how awe inspiring a great big band can be. This is not your Grandad's big band.
