ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Rik Mol

Europe’s most promising trumpeters of this time: only 22 years old, Rik –Freddie Hubbard- Mol has the world at his feet.
At his young age he has been able to win all first prizes that can be won at his field:

Yamaha Trumpet Jazz Award
Prinses Cristina Concours
European Trumpet Contest

His first cd ‘What’s on Tonight?!‘ is just released and already now a massive success in Holland and far beyond. His way of approaching music is a creative blend of pure hard bop jazz and overloaded with hip hop sensual soul and fresh funk. Besides playing with all main figures in the scene and traveling backwards and forwards to Berlin for sessions with Till Brönner, he has been able to surround himself in his group with Holland’s leading jazz musicians.

Rik Mol is:

Rik Mol: Trumpet & FLugelhorn
Ben van den Dungen: Soprano & Tenor Sax
Rob van Bavel: Rhodes & Piano
Jeroen Vierdag: Electric & Double Bass
Joost Patocka: Drums & Cymbals

beautiful, intelligent and very sexy
I first heard this music on a classical radiochannel in Holland; and I knew immediately I needed to have the cd. So I mailed the channel, who sent me the adress of Rik Mol's website, as the cd was not yet available in the music stores. And now I find myself buying the cd over and over, as it is the perfect gift for friends. Smart, sexy music!!

Very impressive. I've never heard of this cat until now, but if he's just 22 then his future looks bright. Names like Chris Botti and Rick Braun come to mind as I listen. If these are original compositions then I'm even more impressed...definitely maturity beyond his years.

Absolutely a fantastic album!
I've played with Rik for some years now in my Latin Jazz group Panchito and now he is tremendously gifted! His playing and personality make him the most asked trumpetplayer in the Netherlands! When I first heard the recording I just couldn't quite place it(genre) but I immediately loved it! Great compositions and awesome production and then to think he's only in his early twenties! You just can't go wrong with this cd when you're really into music, any kind of music! And I'm not saying this because he's my friend and collegue...

excellent well produced album with that ultra modern element, my hat off to the dutch, they love their jazz and you can tell from the tracks they work as a close team.
