ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jazz organ can be an unoriginal genre relying on blues derived material and cliche ridden playing. In the case of the 1999 issue "Footprints" ,however, Lumaproductions and Xenophon records recorded some of the most exciting and original jazz organ ever.

Robb Hunt's playing on this landmark CD pulls it all together and the breadth of material covers modern jazz from the inside to the outside. And, yes, there is the blues; in this case, a Coltrane line, "Bessies Blues" played with originality and true virtuosic technique.

Listen to the bass lines which Hunt employs underneath the free ranching lines. This is jazz organ at its very best!

Drummer Alan Levine complements this intense and personal approach with great taste and skill. We particularly like the double time ballad feel on Body & Soul".

"Alone Together" is a favorite cut that cooks away with great elan.
