Album Notes
Open Heart is an irreverent, comic look at love and life seen through the eyes of a man during a one-minute trauma that changes him...forever. Open Heart made its world premiere in March of 2004 at the historic Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City. Rodgers and Hammerstein Org. is licensing and publishing the musical for future productions. This particular album is unique in that it is the singer/songwriter versions of selected songs from the show. There are also three bonus tracks from Open Heart The Musical, featuring the remarkable talents of Karla DeVito and Stan Brown.
Karla DeVito and Stan Brown starred in the original cast in New York City and received rave reviews for their dazzling performances. The musical was written as an eternal valentine to Karla DeVito, a Broadway star and the 'woman behind the loaf' (Karla DeVito sang and toured with Meat Loaf on the original Bat Out of Hell Tour). Karla DeVito and Stan Brown are the most talented actor/performers " ever grace the stage." Soon, there will be an original Open Heart Album but until then, these songs will represent the six year journey of the musical.

A Gem in a Sea of Sand
I was 8 when 'Ice Castles' came out & time has shown how fleeting the talents & careers of other teen idols of the day have been. Robby, however, has evolved from squeaky 'Jory' into acclaimed director, fantastic father, loving & devoted husband, screenwriter, novelist, playwright, singer, composer, activist &---thankfully for all of us who love him---open heart surgery survivor. The songs on this album are a celebration of life & love. We love & adore you, Robby! Your voice sparkles as much as your blue eyes!

fan forever
Tears of Joy with emotions throughout my soul. Where did this heavenly voice come from? I have been a movie fan of yours for the longest time. I'm 55 and feels like I'm 25 again listening to this music. Don't stop writing-singing-acting.
I'm a Beatles fan also and I feel the music within yours. You go Robbie Benson!!

I always speak from, and listen with, an Open Heart
Forever is about love promises for life into Eternity, infinity & what you mean to me
;and after each 1 day, whether lost or loved, past temptations and despair, I will Run to You
;so please give a damn, open your door and Let Me In, and I'll prove I'm worthy, so the only
;kinda Problems we'll have are rhymin' goblin problems [scrunch, scrunch, toss]
;which makes us wonder why and When Did We Go Dumb? What's wrong and what's right because I
;Wanna Be wanna be wanna be ... yours ... not a wanna-be withdrawn and alone heart
;The Day is hope for what love can be, with poingnant memories and lots more to be said about the
;Knockout King and the doll with the
;Purly Whites, whose smile goes on
;Forever, whatever forever means to you, I'll love you that long, and
;If I Had the Wings I'd fly me to you. Dear love, what all this means is ...

... We will love us Forever with our Open Heart(s)

Great CD!
I am so glad that I finally bought this. Now I have to see the play. Robby Benson sounds fantastic on this CD, and I love the songs. I've been a fan forever, and wanted to own an official recording of his since I recorded him singing singing Mr. Weinsteins Barber Shop on the Mike Douglas show a million years ago. Mr. Benson, I'd love to hear more songs from you. Thank you.

Jennie K.

Mr. was a wonderfully rich album! Please keep writing. You are truly blessed at this art!

Loved it, need more
I was thrilled to be able to buy the CD. I love Robby's songwriting and his singing. Would love to hear more by Robby. I wish I'd seen the show so that I could see how the songs played into the storyline. I've loved Robby's voice since I heard him sing "Mr. Weinstein's Barbershop" on "The Tonight Show." Keep up the good work, Robby, and get back in the studio soon.
