Fraidy Cat (Pre-Release) - Ep

by Rob Meurer

The FRAIDY CAT pre-release EP is a short set of well-crafted, deceptively simple songs, incorporating a variety of styles and offering intelligent lyrics over music both light-hearted and deeply, subtly emotional.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is part of a work in progress. Fans have been bugging me to make the songs available -- mostly because they're tired of waiting for me to finish the album, and who could blame them -- so I've decided to release the tracks that are currently in some state of completion as the FRAIDY CAT pre-release EP. These six tracks may or may not all appear on the finished album, and are likely to be remixed. So don't think of them as "unfinished," think of them as "potentially rare," since these tracks will no longer be available after the finished album is released.

Yes, I am still intent on releasing an album, just in time for the total demise of the format. Too late to stop now!

This i not knock-you-over-the-head music. Take some time with it. Though they are not complex, the songs will reveal themselves with repeated listenings. Of course, this is true of any well-written music, but in today's musical market most listeners give a song about 12 seconds in which to impact their lives before moving on to the next one. Do yourself (and all of us) a favor and take your time.

The songs on this EP are quite different from each other; there will be even fewer similarities between tracks when the album is complete. For me, this is a good thing. An album should present multiple facets of the artist. If I feel like putting a Chinese polka between a death metal song and a solo contrabassoon piece, well, I'm damn well gonna do it. Not that I DID, I'm just sayin'.

So please enjoy these songs as i continue to chip away at this, um...what's it called again? Oh yeah, album. And don't hold your breath.
