ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Roger Hudson offers the music world a rare and prized combination - - exceptional performer and gifted composer. Hudson draws inspiration from the past and the present to create unique music that is enjoyed by other guitarists and general audiences alike. Many of Hudson's compositions are appealing to fingerstyle as well as classical players. In describing Roger's CD Guitarchitecture, the Guitar Foundation of America's journal Soundboard spoke of “...many gorgeous moments…” ”strong themes” and “fetching rhythm figurations”. Mel Bay Publications Book/CD entitled The Guitar Collection of Roger Hudson is described by the English magazine, Classical Guitar as “sparkling” and “wonderful”.

Hudson's guitar compositions draw from his diverse musical experiences. Of late, Roger has focused on composing ensemble music with guitar. In the past few years he has penned two suites: Southland for flute and guitar and Lifescenes for guitar and oboe. In 2002, Roger Hudson’s first guitar concerto, Cumberland Concerto for Guitar and Strings was premiered by the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Hudson’s Blues Suite, is featured in Stanley Yates’ compilation entitled The Contemporary Guitar: An Anthology of New Music published by Mel Bay. Most recently, Roger’s single movement work Rite of Strings has been included on SoundArt Recordings’new Bach Beatles Bluegrass CD by the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble. In 2005, The Hanser/McClellan Guitar Duo released their CD La Vida Breve which includes the premiere recording of Hudson’s duet Undersea.
