Roland Majeau Biography
Roland Majeau is a singer songwriter with music that speaks in quiet, personal tones. Using real life experiences or creating adventures of his own Roland’s goal is to transport the listener to a world of comfort, laughter, adventure, reflection or even tears.
He is a true believer that words are the most powerful tool that we have to captivate, move, inspire and console the wandering hearts that travel and live in a world of change, adventure, danger and sometimes fear.
There is little doubt that when you hear Roland perform you will be reminded of a very famous singer songwriter by the name of James Taylor. This sound likeness is a natural outpouring of phases and cadences that make you think you have known this new friend for a long time. The most frequently asked questions at Roland’s gigs are, “did anyone ever tell you that you sound a lot like James Taylor?” and “do you mind when people say that you sound like James Taylor?” Roland’s answers are always the same, “yes people say that a lot” and “no I don’t mind being compared to James Taylor, I think that it’s a huge compliment”.
Performing and writing real music for real people, Roland Majeau’s music, humor and heart have captured the attention of the professional world of television, radio, and stage and also the arenas of politics, charities and churches. He really speaks to and for “the people” with understanding and charm that not only draws them in but also keeps them there. A storyteller at heart, Majeau’s gift of writing songs with warmth, wit and a focus on real life issues, is not only engaging but also captivating. Majeau’s unique blend of country/folk/pop is a combination that’s pleasing to the ear and however categorized, is a music that tells a story.
Roland has a very unique ability to write for a specific causes or events which is leading him to pursue more writing for film and television. Such as the sound track he composed for the 1 hour documentary Riel’s Honour.
With three albums to his credit and several single releases as well as a growing list of special accomplishments such as If this “Ford could Talk” used in a Ford truck campaign, “Ride Side of the Road” a song in support of the beef industry, Heroes Behind the Badge the official song of the Fallen Four Memorial which was used by both CTV and Global television in their coverage of the memorial service for the Fallen Four RCMP officers in 2005, “Soldier’s Cry” a song written many years ago for Canadian Veterans and is seeing continued use today with groups such as Pro Coro Canada and the Cantata Singers of Ottawa This same song was also featured on a video produced in Toronto by Crossroads Ministries in association with 100 Huntley Street and was aired in both Canada and the United States. He also forayed into the world of photography when as a result of a collaboration with two Canadian photographers, he wrote and performed a piece for a public exhibition and book signing in Edmonton and Vancouver this song “Canada” is still making the rounds with a well know East Coast photographer Dale Wilson. Highlights of his stage experience in Canada include performances for Brian Mulroney, the Prime Minister of Canada, the Premier’s Breakfast, Canada Day Celebrations, Kid’s Kottage, Canadian Cancer Society, RCMP functions and on Parliament Hill and many more. Beyond his home and native land, he has toured the former Yugoslavia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Bosnia, California and Texas and as performed in New York for the NYPD, American Cancer Society, New York Songwriters Circle CBGB’s and the famous Bitter End.
