Album Notes
I set two parameters for the compositions on "Heaven Metal": that they be exclusively for metal percussion, and that they be the most beautiful music I could offer. The comparison to Gamelan is inevitable since I am employing mostly the sounds of Javanese and Balinese instruments. However these songs are very much shorter, and each explores a different rhythmic or melodic motif. The music is complex enough to be a rewarding listening experience, yet hypnotic to the extent of aiding meditation. I find it medicinal (works wonders for headaches)! My song titles are listed on CD Baby but the CD cover list is left open for the listener to fill in whatever names come to them from their own experience with the music. Enjoy these samples but keep in mind that listening to several or all of the tracks in succession deepens the sense of peace and timelessness. Enjoy.

Masterful Metallic Minimalism!
This synthesized immersion in a virtual world of gamelan-like resonance is a real trip. Bucknam has an uncanny melodic sense that just sucks the listener into his timeless patterns...

music of the goddess!
I am mesmerized by this elegant offering. If the
spirits used the elements as musical instruments, I would imagine this to be a gentle metallic rain storm. Working in a busy healthcare setting, I sometimes let this CD play continually all day. I had a patient from Cameroon who said "I would like to know what this beautiful peaceful music is so I can buy a copy to play for my wife while she is in labor. I think it would help to soothe
her as well as me and the baby~it would be good for us all!"
Buy this CD, it's better than a meditation session.

A beautiful surprise! This CD has opened my eyes to the beauty and melodic tones
A beautiful surprise! Not being very familiar with percussion my perception has always been that percussion music is heavy and jarring. This CD has opened my eyes to the beauty and melodic tones possible from percussion. This is a soothing compilation of songs that lets your mind wander while always bringing you back to the music. The interactive insert that prompts you to name each song based on your experience with it causes you to listen closely and form your own perceptions about the meaning.

meditations laced with surprises
Ron uses timbres and layered melodic rhythms reminiscent of a gamelan orchestra to form lovely meditative compositions. He often plays long spacious patterns against short tight ones, resulting in textures as unpredictable and ephemeral as a wind chime. As background, all the pieces soothe, some hypnotically. Under close scrutiny, many turn into challenging aural puzzles.

sweet melodies to soothe your soul
Anyone who has traveled in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, will be instantly transported there by the songs on this CD. The soft rhythms and sweet melodies soothe your soul, while triggering memories of Bali and Bangkok, and all points in between.
