Poundin' the Streets

by Ron Levy

Fun R&B Gospel Blues flavored romp, featuring Levy's smokin' keyboards & Bobby Forte's killin' sax. From the mid '70s when both were playing in B.B. King's Band. This is the first record Levy made on his own as a solo artist.

Album Notes
This was my first recording as a 'solo artist' and was certainly reflective of the times in style. I, along with B.B. King bandmates; Bobby Forte (sax), Eddie Rowe (on bass) & Milton Hopkins (guitar) plus good friend and collaborator on many recording projects Joe Campbell (conductor), as well as some musicians from various touring bands performing in Vegas made up the session. I recorded the rhythm tracks on Fender Rhodes (w/ wah-wah) first, then Bobby & I overdubbed the sax and B-3 organ solos etc. In 1973 this was pretty advanced ie; tracking and overdubs, at least for us! It was recorded in Las Vegas in a garage studio on a 4 track machine. My good friend Leonard Brown (a Baccarat dealer) was the Executive Producer. We all had fun. I wished we'd recorded more but our time and meager budget ran out.
