The Room 217 Story
Music has the capacity to elicit response, provide connection, support healing and offer transcendence. Its flexibility and structure make it a valuable means of therapeutic intervention. With an aging population, music becomes an accessible and affordable means of care and one that brings pleasure to both the care giver and care receiver. Since 2005, the music of Room 217 has been a peaceful presence in the lives of thousands of people. Room 217 began out of a need for beautiful and hopeful music that would gently accompany people going through transitions due to illness or other kinds of losses.
Room 217 CDs are intentionally produced using defined production values that include familiar and hopeful songs with a mix of styles performed at 60 beats per minute which stimulates Alpha brain wave activity, the state of calm and relaxation. Room 217 CDs are available at www.room217.ca or by calling 905.852.2499 or in digital download from itunes.
Room 217 DVDs are intentionally produced using defined production values that include
evocative and familiar images and themes using relaxing colors paced for fixed focus, lingering and reflection in order to prompt memories, reminiscence and storytelling.

M. Aherene, MEd, CMC… I am delighted to see that the Room 217 Foundation continues to innovate in the spirit of creating beautiful resources to help comfort persons and mitigate suffering in our families and communities. Congratulations on this important achievement!
Lisa Gallagher, MA, MT-BC, NMT… The Healing Services team here at the Cleveland Clinic regularly uses the Room 217 CDs when providing Reiki and massage, etc. to patients. They also have a program called Code Lavender where they provide support to staff at the hospital that are having a difficult time i.e. when a department staff member has died or when a unit has had multiple patient deaths and/or stressors in a short period of time. The Code Lavender team is activated, and they go to the unit offering free Reiki, massage, prayer, healthy snacks, support, and various other things to staff. Again the Room 217 CDs are often played in the background during these support sessions!
Dr. Brian Berger, MD, CCFP, ABHPM… We have used Room 217 with patients very successfully. I think that music can make a big difference.
Brian Doerksen, Juno Award Winner… Like most people, I need the music of peace in my life. I have turned to Room 217 often this past year and I have played it for others who are grieving or just overwhelmed by the stress of life. I love the vision of all the Room 217 products and I highly recommend them!
