Album Notes
As a little kid, I remember my parent's house being filled with amazing music day and night. I listened to everything I could get my hands on, and I often raided my sisters and parents record collections to achieve the maximum amount of listening hours and groove time. I studied other musicians my whole life. I learned how to play different instruments by listening, and I wanted to play exactly what the studio musicians on the recordings were playing note for note. I practiced all the time. The secret is this: It's the cats in the recording studio who are the best players. Learn from them! Develop and train your ears, you know? I'm proud to put forth this digital cd album. For me, It really is a celebration of the discipline and imagination other musicians instilled deep within me while growing up in Pittsburgh Pa. This is for The Beatles, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gino Vannelli, Miles Davis, The Brecker Brothers, and countless others. It's for all the cats in the jazz clubs in Pittsburgh who let me sit in when I was in my teens. Sitting in helps you learn how to play live. They kicked my ass all the time but that's how you get better. So, a big thank you to them, my family and friends for all the encouragement, love and support. Put on a good pair of headphones and groove out...
