Ever since Ryan was young he has wanted to become a composer and write his own music. In his dad’s recording studio he watched many artists come in and record albums. These artists, such as Sam Cardon, The Osmonds, and many other great musicians stood as an inspiration to him. However, He always felt there was a barrier between accomplishing his own goal of recording an album because of his inability to read music, and he always found his music was inadequate compared to other musicians. For several years growing up he really struggled with self-esteem regarding both his music and his self-worth. Music was a way for him to cope with his problems and stresses in life, and he wrote a lot to help him get through.
Upon entering high school he made the mistake of getting involved with the wrong friends and turned to drugs and alcohol. He soon became addicted and reliant upon these things, as well as music, to escape life and its pressures. These wrong turns eventually wound him up serving 3 years in prison. During those 3 years he had the opportunity to have access to a piano, and he often used it to help him and those around him to get through the time. This gave him the chance to get comfortable playing around other people. While he was in prison a lot of changes occurred in him where he decided he was tired of the way he had been living. he finally believed he deserved a better life. This is why he named his new album "Breaking Through". As you listen to his music you will hear the changes he went
through and changes we all go through as we are trying to make good
choices in our lives for the greater good.
When he came home from prison he noticed that it was only through living a better life that he found real happiness. It was also at this time that
opportunities regarding music came his way and these opportunities are what
finally gave him the motivation and confidence to follow through with his dream of recording his own album, “Breaking Through”. Many of the songs
on this album were written while he was serving time in prison or going
through some other trial in his life. All of these songs have helped him in
some way or another in his life, but the reason he chose “Breaking Through”
as the title of his album is because it symbolizes the journey of him breaking
through his life of addiction, insecurities, and darkness.
