Performing Songwriter - "Sexy, self-possessed and impressive...a performer to be taken seriously, a force to be reckoned with."

The Boston Globe - "She is a forthright, sassy, twentysomething New Yorker, with an independent drive...a strong voice that rings with despair, passion, anger, hope, and glory. Watch out for Rachael Sage."

The Village Voice - "Earthiness, color and emotion...Sage has folk on the brain and piano keys for hands and is sure to put on a show sublime."

Album Network - "Her music is deeply personal and sometimes quirky, her adeptness at blending in various ethnic tonalities gives her a sound that is universal in appeal."

HX For Her - "Rachael Sage is a beauty. She's a talented pianist. She's a folk singer with an amazing voice."

Ani DiFranco - "Go buy Rachael's album. She's not sitting at home whining because she wants to be a musician. she is a real musician touring because she wants to, without the help of the corporate umbrella."

Sensual and warm vocalist and piano player!
Warm songs with a sensual touch! Found it trough the Grokster software startpage and just took a quick listen through at the songs (Rachael Sage Home Page) and fell in love! I strongly recomend this if you like Tori Amos, Jewel and such!

had me hooked by the second song..Gorgeous!!
beautiful...at some times sensual vocals :) songs to suit the eclectic well. This album left me very pleased.Keep it going Rachael!

Beautiful vocals, great hooks
I bought this album purely on recommendations and listening to a few sound clips. From the moment the first song started, I was hooked. Rachael has a unique voice and she puts it to good use. The piano playing is inspired, and the backup instruments include strings as well as guitars. Some songs rock, others are mellow, but they all have a deep texture, a tapestry of instruments that is often lacking from pop/rock music. These songs have depth, and the lyrics show why Rachael has won songwriting awards. Go buy this album - but be warned - it takes 2 or 3 listens for the songs' hooks to grab you. After that, they'll be in your head all the time.

Hypnotically beautiful
From the color and unpredictability of the lyrics to the hauntingly beautiful vocals.. What a presence this woman has. She has many gifts.. From the moment I heard "bravedancing" I was hooked and completely captivated, thank you for sharing..you are a rare talent.

...in short, i love it!
I've been listening to illusion's carnival over and over the past few days...in short, i love it! i am partial to smashing the serene, probably because that's the first cd of yours that i heard, but they are both so wonderful. i am so touched that you wrote a song about the terrorist events of last year; what a great tribute, which also looks for a reason AND a solution (you don't get much that tries to touch on all three aspects of 9/11). i'm in love with "angel"! probably my favorite track from the cd.

*hugs and love*

The like the groove and the piano and the way it drives.
I keep coming back to cdbaby to hear this cd. It's growing on me. I didn't realize I liked piano in folk music until I heard this cd. Drive is my favorite tune and then trouble. Hope to see ya live someday at the Coffee and Tea Room in Williamsport PA.

Once again, Rachel Sage creates great music!

To be honest, I'd never heard of Rachael Sage before I listened here. I ordered it at once and have been playing it since I received it. It's absolutely beautiful, imaginative, and peaceful. Makes me feel great when I play it. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

Perfect CD for those who like the sound of Tori, Ani, etc..
This CD is a great addition to my collection. My favorites are # 2 and # 5 (to hear the real contrast) and her style is terrific. I am a dance teacher and all of students are hooked on this CD!! Thanks CD Baby!!

This new discover is a treasure for all of us who adore Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, and you know the rest mixed with a little poppier edge (Chantal Kreviazuk / Nicole Nordeman) on some songs. And Rachael is SURE as good as the just mentioned artists. This is a really good album with a very nice production signed by Jimi Zhivago. Rachael who recently won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest sure proof that she is a talented songwriter. Listen to the opening track “Angel” with a Kate Bush vibe, listen to fourth out “Before It Comes”, with a progressive edge in a cool unique way and listen to the very beautiful acoustic “Unbeauty” with such a beautiful arrangement. A real nice moment in female piano-based singer songwriter pop. Listen to sixth out “Look” that starts out in a soft mood and builds up to be a great tune... Superb track. Seven out “Marmelade”, with a jazz-edge smells the band Philosopher Kings all over if anyone remembers them… And in that way it goes… The only track that doesn’t come up in the same calibre is second out “Trouble”. But who cares when 13 songs out of 14 are this good. I can assure you all that you will LOVE this stuff. This is her fourth CD so I need to check out the other three right away. And I must suggest all of you open minded music maniacs to do the same. And then I haven’t mentioned the unbelievable beautiful ballad “Linger”. As I said... Tremendous stuff.
