ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Born and raised in Edmonton, Samantha Schultz is 18 years old and has graduated from one of the city’s local arts schools. She began singing at the age of 3 and playing the guitar since she was 11. Samantha writes her own lyrics and music and has a subject range far exceeding her young years.

She has had many opportunities to showcase her talents by entering local competitions and playing at open stages and at The Northern Lights and Full Moon Folk clubs in Edmonton and at the Nickelodeon in Calgary.

Samantha was a featured performer at the Vancouver Island Musicfest and was also honored to be asked to perform as a “Tweener” at the 2005 Edmonton Folk Music Festival, as well as in 2007, where she was included in the U-22. Samantha will have performed twice at the Calgary Parkland Solstice Festival by the end of June 2009, and will be performing at the 2009 Kelowna Arts and Music Festival, as well as the 2009 Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival; she will be featured in the Sirius Satellite "Six Pack," including artists such as Serena Ryder, Sam Roberts, and Elliott Brood.

She adds to her credits opening for such artists as Ben Taylor, Schuyler Fisk, Kyle Riabko, Ruthie Foster, Lynn Miles, Gaye Delorme, Doug Cox and Sam Hurrie, and Jennifer Warnes.

In November of 2006, Samantha was the youngest nominee in the category of “Young Performer of the Year” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. In 2007 and 2009, Samantha was a nominee at the Mayor’s Evening for the Arts in the category of Stantec Youth Artist Award.

This fall, Samantha will be attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, on the Gary Slaight Family Scholarship. She will be working towards a Voice Performance Degree.

Classic collection!
As soon as I came across Samantha on Myspace, I knew she was special. The melodies and lyrics are far beyond her years. Her first album is so well put together that you can listen all the tracks without wanting to skip one. Personally I like 'Twilight Moment' and 'Dark eyes and dark hair' but all tracks are lovable.

Samantha Schultz - Both Sides
SAMANTHA SCHULTZ has more talent in her than any all of the American Idols put together. Purity in melody, lyric and performance, she will touch your soul. It's music the way it's supposed to be, her own music, lyrics, instrument and her own voice. She owns it.. the way it ought to be. Visit her Myspace page www.myspace.com/samanthaschultz15 and witness real talent!

Quality
Samantha's haert felt lyrics and overall musical abilities bely her young age. She has a wealth of talent and shows a maturity and grasp for song writing far beyond her years. It is also quite rare to find an artist who writes so well yet knows their way around the fretboard so well. I would reccomend this album to anyone with an ear for all things good and look forward with eager anticipation for albums to come from this up and coming singer/songwriter.

Hi,
discovered via the Edmonton TV website, where I found the performance of 'The Truth' absolutely mindblowing! My faves are still 'Pass My Way' and 'Twilight Moment', but I am finding that I really love the beauty of 'Darl Eyes and Dark Hair'. Going to that website was one of the best moments of serendipity in my life, as I've played this CD once every day since it arrived. Ray Harley, Scotland.
