Album Notes
SAM CRAIN is a musician residing in central Illinois. He was educated(among a few other places)at Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore MD, where he was a music composition major, studying with Robert Hall Lewis. He has had extensive experience as a guitarist in bands of a variety of styles, from jazz to fusion to rock to R & B, and a few years of it on the road playing Hotels and Casinos throughout the US and Canada. He currently plays with The Sam Crain Trio and The Dan Rivero Trio.

(from the CD's liner notes): Medicated Moods is my 25th CD, and my 3rd-in-a-row solo project. Another 'one man band', consisting of guitars, keyboards, basses and percussion(the miracle of multi-track recording, something we can thank Les Paul for, as well as his fine playing and of course the eponymous series of guitars made by Gibson). Like the previous two, this record is an eclectic mix of styles, and endeavors to cover a wide expressive range as well, from mild to Firebrand. Medicated Moods is a bit more guitar-oriented, though, and has a more generous amount of soloing(or 'jamming'if you will).

All of the material was written by me, though one tune bears mention here.Da Zombie Wok was inspired by one of Keith Smith's many(and often bizarre and misshapen)brainchildren. That's Keith Y Smith, by the way- with whom I've had the privilege of working these past two years. He devised a sort of customer-repellent gait, a walk designed to quell customer solicitation by its sheer weirdness and dysfunctionality('sir--ahh,never mind..')to be used when heading through the lobby.

I hope that you the listener enjoy the sounds herein. Me the composer and performer certainly enjoyed making them for you. All of the music here, from the mildest to the wildest, was made to be expressive, to reach out to you who's out there listening. It won't reach everybody, but it's still meant to reach whoever has ears to hear it.
