Album Notes
"Be patient and be ready. These are the lessons I feel so grateful to take away from this project:. It’s been an experience in being completely open to whatever the universe sends my way: always ready to learn, create, and jump in with bold and fearless steps.
It is in this spirit that I offer this collection of standards. These tunes are my small way of paying homage to all of the great musicians who loved the music and lived the songs before me. It’s for the dreamers who did their own thing and gave us new ways to look at the world, new shoes to walk in, new ways to live and love with passion. It’s also for the voices who have challenged so many of us to take what makes us special and share it with the world. And finally, it’s for the rest of the dreamers, so that they may be fearless and flexible in their own creative journeys, even when the path is not clear.
Huge thanks to everyone who helped make this project possible. My parents, my friends and family, and my mentors, who are the roots that keep me anchored with such security that I can reach for the sky. I will be forever grateful for your love, support, and generosity. Special thanks to Ron Hughes for his tireless hard work and rose-colored glasses. And finally, my deepest gratitude to Benito Gonzalez for so generously offering his time and incredible talent to bring this thing to life. I will pay it forward. "
