Welcome to the debut release of Shirley Ann Slaughter on her co-owned label Word On The Kerb.
“Walked Into My Life” is one of those once in a while upbeat tracks that blow’s away the cobwebs of mundane daily chore’s, your feet start tapping and your head starts humming.
Hey “ Make some room on that dance floor!”
Shirley Ann delivers a beat with bite that just oozes the passion of Soul/R&B the bass kicks to truly compliment the sound and direction of the composer’s, producers and backing vocals of the Grammy nominated (2009) Phil`erzy Production team of Helen Bruner and Terry Jones.
We thank you so much for your support in downloading this project. We wish to bring you more exciting tracks, with your help…well, Yes we can.
Shirley Ann was born and raised in Philadelphia, she began singing at the tender age of 9 years old. Three years later she attended the world renowned Philadanco dancing school, with the guidance of the schools founder Joan Myers Brown.
Joan once asked of Shirley Ann in which direction did she wish to pursue singing or dancing?
In reality she has never given either of these skills up, although the joy she brings to audiences from her deeply committed ability to deliver lyrical honesty, perhaps just tips the scales towards vocal excellence.
This release is not her first in her career, but this is the one that tells you this is the most underrated vocalist you have never heard.
This project embraces the label ethos Soul music today, tomorrow, and yesterday. The track was recorded at Gamble & Huff Studios Philadelphia, and Mastered in London at Abbey Road Studios this really has been a “Hands across the Pond” adventure.
All that have been involved in this release have given so much, their contributions have empowered us to wake up to the sound of Shirley Ann.
Thank You So Much,
John Carrier & Shirley Ann Slaughter
