ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Three years after his debut full-length "Meet My Maker" arrived, New York City-based rapper and comedian Schaffer the Darklord (STD) returns with the release of his sophomore effort, "Mark of the Beast." Nearly two years (and a half-dozen engineers) in the making, "Mark of the Beast" contains some of STD's most beloved and tour-honed material. Classics like "Cat People" and "Night of the Living Christ" make re-vamped appearances, and new numbers like "Dive Down" and "The Way You Talk" are found for the first time anywhere. Listeners will note guest appearances from Coolzey in "Tour Song" and LadyLovely in "Rich Man," and one track from "Meet My Maker" receives a fresh set of loops from longtime STD collaborator Dave Famous in the updated "Revenge of Attack of the Clonef*cker." The album also features the single "The Rappist" from the YouTube-featured music video, plus nine other twisted, infectious tunes. Give in to the darkness and purchase this musical nightmare immediately. The devil insists.

Brilliant!
Excellent album, introduced to STD via boing boing and hipster, please. Great lyrics, solid beats. Looking forward to future work!

Great album. Clever, funny, dark, and hilarious!
This, out of the 3 Shaffer currently has, is my favorite album to date. The Way You Talk stands as one of my favorite Nerdcore songs and cracks me up every time. Good music, but what stands out is STD's intricate and well placed lyrical aptitude. VERY enjoyable!

Freaks and Geeks

Nerdcore genius
STD has made a made a true Nerdcore gem with this album. His lyrics are highly intelligent, hillarious, and dark. He exposes the freakier side of freak, and the geekier side of geek. This album is pure uninhibited nerd lust. I highly recommend it!!

STD is amazing
The title pretty much says it all. Schaffer's music has a great beat, his lyrics are clever and catchy, and his CD leaves you wanting more.

He is also quite good live, and if you ever find yourself in the NYC area, you should cough up a couple bucks to watch him live. I promise that you will not be disappointed.

Fear the Black Box
Not only is his music supremely excellent, sophisticated, and rockin' but Schaffer the Darklord is both a gentleman and a scholar. Rock on STD!

Lovin' this
Found this rather randomly -- heard a couple samples and DL'ed the MP3s right away. I'm totally hooked. I love humorous hip-hop... and... I love nerds, and STD is nerd to the core! :) ~Jen
