Thanks for buying this CD…and being one of the over 2,000,000 people who have seen me live. You are who make it possible to tell my silly jokes.
The CD is a compilation of a few of my favorite live performances in the last 10 years... that happened to be recorded. I don't record a lot of shows because it seems that the minute I set up a camera or a recording session something goes haywire.
The first time I tried to record a CD. a fight broke out in the front row. I was the fifth of five comedians recording on- hour sets in front of the same audience. In one of the few remaining copies (that I have on cassette) you can hear a guy yell, " Shut up! This one is funny!" Chaos ensued.
Another time I tried to tape a set in Moorhead, Minnesota in a remodeled movie theater. In the middle of my set the power was shut off. The owner didn't pay his power bill. I had to finish the show with no sound system. The owner directed the lights on the emergency exit signs to the stage. They came on when the power went off..
The CD has some old jokes and some new jokes. It has local references that have changed and some that have remained the same. But the audiences were always great.
I also want to thank my family. They have made this silly sojourn possible.
I thank my wife Michele. After being married less than one year, I told her that I wanted to quit my day job and tell jokes. All she said was “I think that you should!” She has been there to support me every minute. I love you.
I thank my kids. Nick, Annemarie and Andy. They have endured a bevy of comedy stars sleeping at our house when I couldn’t afford hotel rooms. They rode along on vacation/ road trips and stayed in hotels with cowboy boot shaped pools and carnivals in the parking lot. They made me laugh along the way. Now Nick and his wife Krissy have given me a younger audience with grandchildren Caden,Taylor, Gillian and Alexis
I thank my parents Don and Doris for laughing at the silly jokes of a young son. They raised me through tough times while laughing and letting me laugh. They taught me how to laugh at myself.
I need to thank my 3 older sisters, Faith, Chris and Joy. They are the extra Moms that helped raise me while my mother fought years of terrible illness. They are also the reason I almost became a priest.
And, thanks to my little brother Tom. Through thick and thin he has always been there with support and to make the calls when I needed work. It’s hard to believe I lived without him the first 9 years 11 months and 6 days of my life.
A portion of the sale of every one of these CD’s will go to cancer research in memory of Tom’s wife, comedian Holly Henson. She lost her courageous battle with breast cancer in 2012. We all love and miss her.
I owe a lot of people a lot of thanks.
Thanks for taking this silly trip with me!
