Album Notes

I just wanted to let you know that I have a new Christmas CD "Scott Martin/A Martin Family Christmas" out on SCM Records. It's a great soulful latin jazz CD full of holiday classics.

As you may know, I come from a family of professional musicians. I am especially proud of this CD because I was able to bring in three generations of my family to perform together on this project. My two brothers, Andy Martin (trombone) and Stan Martin (trumpet) join me in the horn section as well as my 16 year old son Tyler Martin, (baritone sax and clarinet), as well as our special guest, my 68 year old father Dave Martin, on trumpet and flugelhorn.

When we were growing up in Long Beach California, it was always great to hear my dad play his horn. We would tag along to his gigs all the time. His enthusiastic love of jazz music was inspiring, but so was his beautiful, soulful, melodic way of improvising. He loves to play and is still busy gigging every weekend and still inspiring us.

I had a great time producing this CD. I was especially proud to hear my father and his grandson take solo turns on 'Have Yourself a Merry Christmas' arranged by my son Tyler. Another great moment was to hear the playback of my Dad's beautiful rendition of 'White Christmas' with all of us playing behind him in the background. My brothers and I have some soulful moments as well, like Andy's version of "O Come All Ye Faithful". Or Stan and I trading on the end of "Let It Snow".

Check it out....Three generations of Martin horns!! I am so glad I can share my family in a musical arena. Thanks and I hope you get a chance to enjoy my holiday CD, "A Martin Family Christmas". Feel free to forward this to anyone that might be interested! You can never have too much Latin Jazz Christmas music!!

Thanks and Happy Holidays,

Scott Martin

I really loved all of the songs on this album. Really has a fun upbeat rhythem to all the songs. Never thought that X-mas songs could sound so much fun. The arrangements have a uplifting effect. This album gets me going. Also loved the Cafe Cubana album from Scott martin. Keep up the good work. Pity his albums are not available in Canada.

Great CD
I discovered Scott Martin after seeing him in a club in LA. He sounds great and this one is pretty cool that has his whole talented family on it. Great Latin Xmas CD!!!
