ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Scottie Miller & The Re-Uptake Inhibitors, with drummer Mark O’Day, bassist John Iden and currently featuring Brian “Zoot” Simonds on saxophones, and Scott Sansby on percussion, are taking the Midwest by storm. With increasing press, festival appearances and radio airplay across the country, the band continues to promote their three past critically acclaimed CD’s; “The Other Side”, “Days Of Reckoning”, and Scottie’s solo release “Livin’ Between The Black ‘n White”.

With the June 2007 release of the phenomenal brand new CD; “Elixir For The Soul”, Scottie and the boys are making new disciples of all who catch their show. “Elixir For The Soul” was co-produced by Dik Shopteau; ( Renee Austin, Kevin Bowe, Cynthia Johnson and more). Featuring special guest recording by guitarists David Barry of Janet Jackson, as well as local Minneapolis guitar slinger Mark Knoll. “Elixir For The Soul” is a beautifully executed mixture of blues, funk, jazz and ballads that you will not want to take out of your CD player.

 2006 US Tour as keyboardist with “Bo Diddley & Friends”; Alvin Youngblood Hart and Ruthie Foster.
 2006 Nominee for “Best Self Produced CD”; “Livin’ Between The Black ‘n White” – Blues Foundation – Memphis, TN.
 2005 Top 5 Solo Finalist at The International Blues Challenge sponsored by The Blues Foundation – Memphis, TN.
 2005 Top 17 Acts from the Midwest Independent Music World Series
 Published “Rock Keyboards” with the Hal Leonard Corporation 2003

Scottie Miller grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota studying piano at age 6. He was classically trained until age 13 when he began studying jazz with Peter Murray at McPhail School Of The Arts. In 1986 Scottie attended Berklee College of Music with the help of a scholarship from the Chick Corea Jazz Masters Incentive Fund, studying under piano great Craig Najjar.

Scottie then moved back to Minneapolis where he still resides. Writing and recording and touring with various bands until a solo career was launched. In 1998 Scottie crossed paths with Minneapolis Blues favorites Big John Dickerson and Blue Chamber. They went on the tour extensively in the U.S. and overseas. Scottie wrote and co-wrote tunes; “How Long?”, “When The Sun Goes Down” and “When I’m Gone” featured on the CD; “Arms Of The Blues” –
Blue Chamber featuring Big John Dickerson. (Cannonball Records)

Since 2002, Scottie has been recording, touring and performing with drummer Mark O’Day, and bassist John Iden. From 2003-2005 the trio hooked up with guitarist Paul Mayasich and recorded two Scottie Miller CD’s; “The Other Side”, and “Days Of Reckoning”.

In 2006 Scottie released a solo Piano/Vocal CD titled; “Livin’ Between
The Black ‘n White”. Unlike his previous original recordings, this was an obvious and passionate dedication to our piano-blues forefathers; Otis Spann, Roosevelt Sykes, Amos Milburn, and more.

“The Inhibitors” have just released their strongest material to date; “Elixir For The Soul”. With production and horn arrangements that far surpass their previous releases. The band exhibits strong Minneapolis to New Orleans funk flavors, reflective soulful ballads, slow blues, and R&B cuts that wander back and forth somewhere between Ray Charles, John Hiatt, and Dr. John and The Meters”

“This is urban Midwestern swamp funk ‘n blues direct from the birthplace of the mighty Mississippi. The production is extraordinary for a self-produced CD. This is the Minnesota sound at its best. Commercially viable music that comes directly from the artists’ heart and nourishes your soul”.

Elixir for the Soul
I bought this CD right after listening to these guys perform live. They are fantastic and I love Scotty's gravelly voice. The music really gets into you and makes you want to hear more. Of all the CDs I've bought of blues, this one is my favorite. I can't wait for more!
