ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
As a native of Colorado, Scott spent the first 19 years of his life nearly 9000 feet up in the Rockies. He started playing guitar in the early 70's around the age of 13. By the age of 16 he was the lead singer and one of a couple of guitar players for a regionally popular band called "Load Limit". The 7 piece southern rock style band played to standing room only crowds for a number of years.

For the next 29 years he's pursued a passion of his in the area of biblical research and teaching, while still finding the time to work a day job and record on 18 albums as a multi-instrumentalist and singer. This list includes two solo records, in which he wrote and produced all the songs. The newest of these "Safe Evermore" has been called by some, "Ameri-Gospel-Grass". On this project he teamed up with his friends from one of the fastest rising new bluegrass bands in the country "Hit and Run Bluegrass" out of Boulder. Recorded live ensemble style these songs run the gamut from a beautiful, reflective instrumental "Peace and Joy" to some down right finger lickin' good pickin' on songs like "The Reason".

Though this record is Gospel in nature he does write other songs. He wrote the song "Love Never Fails" used in one of the top theatrical productions in the country "Christy The Musical" which ran for over four years. His fun, disarming, and easy going stage presence mixes well with a clear, strong voice, and his top shelf musicianship on the guitar.

Sample the mp3's, the song samples speak for themselves.
Just darn good music with enough variety to keep it interesting. Terrific playing and solid arrangements. This album has a bunch of crossover styles and isn’t just all bluegrass or all country. Beautiful singing voice… my favorite is the title track song “Safe Evermore”.

A Pittsburgh Saint

Music that ministers grace to the hears!
God's word exhorts the born again ones to "put the word in mind". This CD does that and more! The lyrics overflow with a message of God's gracious love. Such a wonderful thing to think about (abd listen to)until our Lords's return! Thanks Scott!

Surprisingly catchy, foot tappin' makes you go hmmmmm.
Its awsome.
Very well done, great lyrics, and the sound is great. I like the
choice of music style too.
The album has a Garth Brooks feel and quality to it.
Very nice, are there more in the works?

Holly Winebarger

Best Bluegrass Bar NONE!!
Very professionally done. Uplifting, upbeat, inspiring, and full of a richness sadly lacking in today's music.

Would love an all instrumental and an a cappella album in the future. His work is impeccible. WELL DONE!!!!!

Michael Novak

The music is wonderful, the words teach you about life.
The musical presentation is incredible and the words reveal truths about God and His Word!

Patricia Perry

A Music Teacher

Simple, Pure, Soulful and more....
Scott's album is simple in message, pure in musical genius, and soulful in execution. It is elegant, yet laid back at the same time. This is a marvelous piece of work that deserves to be in schools to teach musicians how it is to be done. Well done, Mr. Powell! You should be teaching this to others.
