Album Notes
Sculpture Music are a downtempo / acoustic / Hang Drum duo from Devon, UK. Combining the unique sound of the Hang / Hand Pans and lyrical double bass, along with richly harmonic vocals and electronica elements.
Formed at the start of 2012, the band consist of Matthew Calder (Hang / Halo hand pans, Vocals and Guitars) and John Shaw (Double Bass and backing vocals). The bands name comes from the generic term 'Sound Sculptures' given to the Hang Drum and its contemporaries. The Hang has a truly unique sound, and is still a relatively rare instrument, with only around 3000 having been made by its inventors in Switzerland.
The bands music is best described as Downtempo - with elements of Jazz, Trip Hop and Ambient layers - whilst maintaining a strong song structure.
Minor Songs In Major Keys is the bands first release, and a second EP is due out later in 2013.
