Scythian (pronounced "sith-ee-yin") is a young Celtic band of four "twenty-somethings" based out of the D.C./Metro area. They are a charismatic group of friends whose music ranges from traditional folk to Celtic rock, with strains of gypsy and Klezmer in between, and they feel their primary talent is delivering a high-energy show.
Led by a pair of young raging fiddlers, Scythian brings a passion and energy that makes them unpredictable, spontaneous and contagiously festive. With a great respect and admiration for the traditional - the foundation of their music - Scythian is nevertheless not afraid to wink at convention in search of a little fun, lending them an appeal to young and old alike.
Their music features:
The members of Scythian were brought up as classical musicians, performing in such venues as the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, and Heinz Hall. Bringing this experience to the stage, Scythian's first year has demonstrated their draw with a regular and substantial following in the D.C. and Philly areas.
