ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
It wasn’t the original plan – who would have thought the world needed 3 volumes of Christmas and holiday music done surf style? Well, they have been among our most popular releases, so who are we to say no? This volume has songs from all over the world, including The Surfites (Sweden), The Mobsmen (Norway), Burt Rocket (Iceland/Norway), The Razorblades (Germany), The Urban Surf Kings (Canada), and of course, the United States. While mostly surf/instro, there are a few songs that veer into frat rock, swing and exotica, to mix things up a bit. After all, you can’t just drink eggnog and eat fruitcake during the holidays – a little spiced wine and cranberry sauce is good for a little variety.

The third volume in this ambitious series from Bellingham, Washington's Double Crown Records is packed-full of holiday-themed surf rock instrumentals, but it also features a rousing group of non-surf goodies to make sure the mix doesn't go stale. With 16 tracks by as many artists, this collection blazes through classic holiday tunes, some obscure covers, as well as some originals that fit in perfectly next to the songs you know. It all makes for a highly original soundtrack to your Christmas shindig that will not only impress your guests, but also leave 'em with a smile on their face. Make sure to check out The Frankie Handwax Experience's version of "We Three Kings," which they play over a spot-on cover of "Manic Depression." It's strangely festive, and a lot of fun. Other highlights include the punk-polka craziness of "Sausage & Sauerkraut for Santa" by The Polkaholics, and "Secret Santa," a vintage-sounding bubblegum pop gem by the always-great Barbary Coasters.
