Album Notes
The Secondhand Ska Kings are pleased to announce the release of their debut full-length CD Ale to the Kings. Our special brand of loud, obnoxious dancehall ska is under the influence of the funk and the punk. Take it home with you and enjoy without moderation!

The story of Ale to the Kings begins with our tune No More Guitars, also a track on the album. We wrote this tune back in December 2005, and on a lark, Bryce submitted it to the producers of Veronica Mars. They selected it for the show. Well eight seconds of it anyhow, and we still got enough money to produce an album.

The Secondhand Ska Kings are Dan Arlig on bass; Matt “Mad Dog” Bertrand on guitar; Bryce Blilie on trumpet; Eric Johnson on trombone and vocals; Ryan Lodgaard on drums; and Scott Moriarity on trombone and vocals. The “secondhand” part is because we used to play in bands like Three Minute Hero and Suspect Bill.

We play really loud. We’ve got the third and fourth best rock’n’roll trombone players in the Twin Cities for real. Who’s third? Come to a show to decide! Why can’t Bryce love them? They start fights.

Tasty licks
Can't stand still while you're listening to this stuff; particularly Firestarter, No More Guitars and Congo Square. Impossibly good trombone throughout, including a laid back solo on Slow & Comfortable that's one of the coolest uses of reverb I've heard in Ska.
One of the Twin Cities' best live acts, as well.
Can't wait to hear more!
