ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

________________________________

On November 26, 2006, Selene & Rómulo began to carve out what is now “La Pareja Dispareja” (The Odd Couple). As destiny took its course, the two met preparing for a religious mass in honor of “La Virgen de Guadalupe” taking place on December 12th, 2006. During rehearsals, they realized that their unique voices and completely different musical backgrounds could merge and fuse creating amazing stylized rancheras and romantic ballads filled with colorful harmonies. While preparing for the mass and “serenata” for “La Virgen de Guadalupe” they also prepared in a matter of three short weeks, tropical dance music ranging from salsa, cumbia, merengue, and national Ecuadorian music to perform at the annual New Year’s Eve celebration at St. Brigit’s Church in Brooklyn, NY.

The duo took part of the star-studded Up Front 2007-2008 of Univision (which included the presentation of the upcoming shows for Univison, TeleFutura and Galavision) as members of “Team Univision” with their original composition of “Yo Amo Univision” song with guest star Prysyla Muñoz. Their talent and “picardia” has opened many doors in New York City and other nationwide events such as “The Taste of Madison 2007” (WI). They have performed at the 2007 Mexican Heritage Celebration at City Hall, 2007 5 de Mayo Celebration at Flushing Meadows Park, 2007 Hispanic Heritage Festival at Riverbank State Park, mass for President Rafael Correa of Ecuador, and 2007 Rally for the New York Immigration Coalition in front of City Hall among many other community events, restaurants and bars. They also perform religious music with Rómulo on the guitar and the panderetta, and Selene on the percussion (bongos & barchimes). Radio and television appearances include, The Diamante Show, the Nueva Ola Show, Bronx Net TV, La Movida (WI), Delgado Radio, and 92.1 Madison’s Progessive Talk. The duo is currently promoting their first musical production titled “La Pareja Dispareja.”
