ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Dani's performance no doubt outshines the others'. Running from side to side on stage and changing her voice, sometimes clean and sometimes extremely rough, Dani stole the show with her feeling and charisma."
Roadie Crew Magazine (http://www.roadiecrew.com) ,reviewing Dani's performance on the concert with Nightwish (July 2002)

"With the charisma, beauty and voice (and aggressive and melodic voice!) from singer Dani Nolden... The band stepped out of the stage even more praised than Nightwish..."
Valhalla magazine (http://www.valhalla.com.br), reviewing the concert with Nightwish (July 2002)

"She's one of a kind! Something that happens from 50 to 50 years, that's way above Seven Music, me or you. Something above our mediocre lives ... I expect the world to surrender! I expect everyone to fall on their knees and worship the Heavy Metal goddess."
Gil Cardoso, head of Seven Music, Universal Music label, current home of Dani Nolden and Shadowside. (2005)

There have been many outstanding and unique singers, true rock n' roll legends. Janis Joplin, Robert Plant, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson and many others have written their names in the music hall of fame in a time when talent really mattered. For many years, the Rock and Metal scene suffered with the lack of identify and personality and very few bands and musicians have standed out and surprised the world.

A truly unique and powerful voice, technical and incomparable: there are no better words to describe her. With a very passionate and energetic style together with her charisma and attitude, she wrote, and performed live and in the studio, songs that got thousands of people speechless.

In times where true art doesn't matter, she is here to change it all and bring back the magic to the Heavy Metal music. No matter where you are and where you come from, she's gonna rock your world.
Dani Nolden is here to stay.

And so are Shadowside. Their debut album Theatre of Shadows shows a very competent, strong act, with very skilled musicians and high level songwriting. Highly acclaimed by the media and fans, they got to show their amazing live presence touring with bands such as Nightwish and Helloween, everytime leaving the stage praised, sometimes even more than the main act.
They are currently booking the Dancing in the Shadows world tour, be sure not to miss them when they come your way!

Heavy Metal Warrior

Dani has more TESTOSTERONE than most male metal vocalists
This CD showcases Dani's singing and it is superb for a sophomore effort. She is certainly a rising star in the metal scene and (I hope) here to stay. At any rate, I highly recommend buying this CD. Can't wait to see her live. Only negative is the intentional off-key wavering and weird English pronounciation (kinda cute for a ESL Brazilian) you hear in Vampire Hunter, (IMHO the worst song on CD). Every other track, besides the above, is quite simply muito bon ('very good' in Portuguese)!

WOW!!!!!!!
Great heavy metal with a female singer. The band DONT try to be Nightwish clones. They have their own sound and are good at it.

Martin Nicholas

Rock at its best
Dont know what else to say apart from this CD ROCKS!
Well done :)

Encrucijada

an album full of good taste due to its melodies and compositions of the highest
... absolute creativity of their singer, miss Dani Nolden. A girl with a powerful voice, but sometimes so melodic that it fits perfectly to SHADOWSIDE’S melodic metal. Before we had reviewed a single from this album and we warned we were in front of one of the most interesting propositions of the latinamerican metal. Now that we can analyze the whole record, we notice that our first comments are too small to what SHADOWSIDE represents. Evidently, it’s even better… Songs like Vampire Hunter … Illusions, Believe in Yourself, … Kingdom of Life and Here to Stay will give you goosebumps with its killer riffs and Dani’s fantastic voice. But there are interesting things from the first to the last song. In short, an album full of good taste due to its melodies and compositions of the highest level.

Metalzone

a PERFECT metal album
... a PERFECT metal album. I was forced to use capital letters, so big was my joy hearing this work and standing in front of so much musical and professional quality of the members. Starting with the thunder voice from singer Dani Nolden. What is this woman singing?…Dani squanders technique, interpretation and softness. ... the banging really starts with Vampire Hunter, good rhythm, Dani’s voice unrecognizable as feminine, for being low, impacting and very aggressive … the following tracks keep the same quality level regarding instrumental and singing work …
Their sound is a pleasant and very intelligent mix of power, traditional and thrash metal ... With all tracks way above average, it’s hard to name only a few as standouts.

Roadie Crew

Undoubtely this record consolidates once and for all Shadowside’s career
The 12 tracks are conducted by heavy, catchy and well worked guitar riffs and Dani’s powerful voice, who despite singing with a lot of punch in most of the times also explores her melodies in softer ways in some parts … It is worth to highlight the Theatre of Shadows ending, split in two tracks (Shadow Dance and Here to Stay) and representing well the diversity we find on this material. Undoubtely this record consolidates once and for all Shadowside’s career and shows we’ll still hear a lot from this band, and very well.

Novo Metal

I risk saying they will be one of the next big bands from Brazil
When the subject is Melodic Metal, Power Metal and similar things, I always had the same opinion: those styles are totally saturated, in need of urgent renovation and reformulation. Well, when I heard the Theatre of Shadows CD, from Shadowside, I got very excited. I was finally listening to something different. That wouldn’t be possible, if weren’t so different the vocals from Daniela Nolden: rough, melodic, clean, strong … On the track Vampire Hunter, we can feel the power of those vocals very well.
… I risk saying they will be one of the next big bands from Brazil.

Rock Hard - Valhalla

“(Shadowside) managed to record an album that can be considered one of the best
(Shadowside) managed to record an album that can be considered one of the best ever released on the national scene. Quality for that is not lacking on Theatre of Shadows: good production … not to mention the talent from these musicians on the songwriting, as on the heavy and exciting Highlight … We Want a Miracle – a song bringing variations that go from the dark beginning to the catchy chorus – besides the demolishing Red Storm and Tonight.
Dani Nolden’s aggressive vocals are a good difference on the scene and it’s nice to highlight Ricky Slater’s guitar playing …. This band’s end would mean a great loss for the heavy national music. Theatre of Shadows makes that clear. Listen!

Rock Brigade

It’s strong heavy metal, well played, something from people talented to compose
I admit I wasn’t very thrilled on my first contact with Shadowside, because it looked like another band to feature a good looking singer to get attention. But, dear reader, don’t be as stupid as I was and don’t judge a book by its cover ... Yes, Dani is a good looking singer, but she’s more like Bruce Dickinson meeting Sharon Osbourne in a pub than like Tarja Turunen running in slow motion to her argentinian husband in a flower field. The girl is enraged and is just right for the wonderfully executed heavy noise played ... It’s strong heavy metal, well played, something from people talented to compose and execute their job well. Congratulations to the band for the album!

All the Bangers

Killer work, high level Power Metal, competent, not dated and totally aproved!
Highly professional work, the CD is killer, excellent, no doubts one of the best ever released on the national scene.
Great riffs, precise and fast rhythm section and a magisterial singer, since Dani Nolden is highly competent. Hard to point a track in special … Killer work, high level Power Metal, competent, not dated and totally aproved!
