ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Reviews:

"Beautiful intricate piano with soft breathy vocals floating over the top that combine to create this haunting quality." - Amy @ Collected Sounds

"Burns sings about squirrels dancing around in your head, fairytales, ghosts, and Celtic castles. Whatever she is singing about, it always seems to fit the music just perfectly, and the timing lyrically is impeccable- supported by spotless musicianship." - Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck

"Shauna Burns' sophomore release is one of those albums that will stand the test of time. Her vocal range coupled with her musical abilities is showcased throughout each song. Burns' piano playing really stands out and make this release shine." - Go Girl Music

Bio:

Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Shauna Burns burst onto the music scene in 2005 with her debut album “Every Thought” to rave reviews and acclamation. Kevan Breitinger of Indie-Music.com declares the album "Fresh, Fearless and Free" while Kristin Dreyer Dramer from Nights and Weekends finds Shauna's music as "spectacular piano arrangements and clear melodic vocals." , Smother.net quotes "Every Thought," as "a new fangled fusion that will ignite a spark that will be hard to replicate. Perfect."

Shauna's ethereal vocals and beautiful piano developed while growing up in Miami, Florida. Inspired by her mother's love for the piano, her songwriting thrived and when she headed west for college her music met cheers and enthusiastic recognition. After receiving a bachelor's degree in Anthropology at the University of Utah, Shauna spent a year in Europe preparing her debut album. Released under Red Rock Music, 'Every Thought' gained not only stellar critical acclaim and a healthy following but Shauna embarked on a vigorous national US tour from coast to coast.

Shauna's songwriting extension to “Every Thought”, is her 2007 followup EP release entitled, "Desert Tune." This 5 song EP is witty and playful while in harmony with her nature of being personal and captivating. Shauna and her piano are once again joined by co-producer and drummer James Clark, Ryan Tilby on guitar and bass with Steve Lemmon on guitar. Inspired by residing in a desert landscape, 'Desert Tune' gives the listener a different pair of eyes to view what this world can give and take from us - physically and emotionally.

Shauna's music is inspired by many cultures and ideas that surround the world as well as the landscape of the deserts and mountains of the western US that she now calls home. Taking her knowledge in Anthropology as a shovel she is always digging, searching for her next musical adventure. Shauna explains her songwriting philosophy as, "It can start with just a feeling, that seed in your stomach that grows until you cannot ignore it anymore. I feel the need to cultivate and nurture these seeds because seeds can grow into big ideas if we take care. It makes me question: What's next for all of us in this world? What is the universe trying to tell us? I’m listening."

Shauna's debut CD, "Every Thought" was selected as one of the Top CD's of 2005 by Collected Sounds and the single, "Pink Girl," was chosen as the #1 Indie single from the MAACP show. The album was chosen for 'Best of the Batch' from the Music Industry News Network and featured on TowerPod.com, Indie-Music.com, Billboard, VH1, Artist Direct, AOL Music, Fox TV and countless others. Shauna will be launching a European tour in early 2007 in support of "Desert Tune," and will follow those dates in February with a US tour.

A Must Have!
I highly recommend Desert Tune, every song is a keeper. I especially like 'I'm Dirty', a song hasn't affected me this much in a very long time... This EP is a must have for any eclectic listener.

Shauna makes piano playing cool!
Shauna's songwriting muse of piano and voice is truly other worldly, like a modern transport, purely and instantly captivating giving immediate reprieve from the everyday cares of life. She makes piano playing as cool as any singer-songwriter guitar girl yet with rich, mature tones of depth and mystery. This CD is breathlessly timeless and one to return to for years to come.
