To express one’s feelings to the wide-open public without care or concern for the feelings being returned is what Vulnerable is all about. It was in a state of hopeless abandon that this song was written; about a love that is true, generous and without regret. Shaundra T. Smith gives an emotional, yet confident account of her feelings for a past lover, regardless of what the future may hold.
"Beyond sound, I believe that music must be tangible and possess longevity. My music aims to connect with the listener and relate to spoken and unspoken emotion. The songs I write are lyrically candid in hopes that one will see it as an example and replicate it in their own lives." S. T. Smith
Soul, funk, rock, jazz and gospel are heavy influences to Smith's style of writing. Some of the creators in this circle of influence include Donny Hathaway, Chaka Khan, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Kim Burrell, Sam Cooke and Ray Charles, just to name a few.
Shaundra thanks Kelvin Wooten, family, friends and fans for working with me and being so patient for what's to come!
