ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is the first release from Shir recorded in 1999 in the heart of Jewish London - Golders Green, featuring a mix of Jewish and Israeli songs and instrumentals - a varied selection of Jewish folk music - Klezmer, Yiddish, Israeli and Simcha music.

Coming from different musical backgrounds (classical, jazz and gypsy folk), the four musicians of London UK based SHIR meet to provide a spontaneous, energetic and soulful musical experience.

"Shir provides a harmony of shalom and happiness, and combines virtuosity with accessibility".

Shir are:
Maurice Chernick - Clarinet, Vocals
Ivor Goldberg - Guitar, Vocals
Piotr Jordan - Violin
Steve Rose - Acoustic Bass
