ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
At long last it is here- Shulman's much awaited fourth album- "Endless Rhythms of the Beatless Heart"! After establishing themselves as a leading group in the downtempo electronica world and defying genre definitions, the Shulman duo take the next step and deliver an album, which we at Aleph Zero feel we can honestly say is going to revolutionize the electronic music world.

"Endless Rhythms of the Beatless Heart" offers a combination of electronic and acoustic music that creates something never before heard. Using their unrivaled mastery of sonic manipulation and hosting an impressive cast of highly skilled musicians, playing a vast array of musical instruments from east and west, Shulman manage to construct a musical journey the likes of you've never encountered before.

With this album Shulman once again succeed in building a musical bridge between East and West, Classic and Contemporary, Past and Future. Blending revolutionary hi-tech sounds, classical Indian, Arab & Greek music, Contemporary Jazz and much more, they weave a complex and detailed musical pattern that rests upon the world around us and adds to it an infinite depth and a magical halo.

The Shulman project, comprised of Yaniv Shulman and later joined by Omri Harpaz, is considered one of the leading groups in the psychedelic chill out and ambient scene and have performed in large festivals all around the world. Shulman's music is filled with evolving organic layers backed by rich harmonies. Shulman have released 3 artist albums prior to “Endless Rhythms of the Beatless Heart” and numerous releases on compilations by leading labels throughout the world. At the moment the guys are busy working on several new projects, and developing their live performance, advancing electronic music live shows to a new level of musical richness and interest. Shulman represents true innovation of psychedelic chill out and ambient and is known for breaking borders and morphing new sounds. Shulman’s music is characterized by many ground-breaking sounds and effects, mystical melodies, hypnotic beats, and acoustical instruments, all combined brilliantly to create beautiful harmonies, interesting sonic structures, and deep emotional moments. The duo’s debut album, "Soundscapes and Modern Tales", released in 2002 by Shaffel records, received excellent reviews and world-wide acclaim. It is now world famous for the unique moods it creates, audio-visual alchemy, and storytelling. The second Shulman album, “In Search of a Meaningful Moment” released in 2003 by Aleph Zero Records became an instant classic. It has received excellent reviews, expanded Shulman’s fan base, and has contributed to establishing Shulman as a leading group in the electronic music scene. Shulman’s third album entitled “Random Thoughts” released on Aleph Zero Records is a special and different experience. As the title hints, it contains different compositions in different tones that accumulated in Shulman's studio independently of any specific album project. Random Thoughts represents diverse and faraway corners of the Shulman mindscape, new sounds, interpretations and sonic surprises, as Shulman stretched the limits of their musical universe of to new and exciting soundscapes. Shulman has collaborated with many artists including world music giants Omar Faruk Tekbilek and Steve Shehan, Bluetech, Ishq, Lee Triffon and many others. In addition Shulman remixed tracks by Omar Faruk Tekbilek and Steve Shehan, Sub6 and Michele Adamson, and Entheogenic. Shulman’s tracks were remixed by famous artists such as Bluetech, Ishq, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Anahata and others. Shulman's live show offers a unique musical experience. The show is comprised of a complex fusion of electronic and acoustic instruments and music, of cutting edge musical technologies and traditional instruments playing, of electronic musical structures and elements of World, Rock, Jazz, Reggae and other musical genres.

Excellent work from the Shulman team
This album, like it's predecessors, has a lot of variety in it. There is melody and harmony, rhythm accents, effects and novelty, syncopation, etc. It's a cornucopia of sound in a good way.

It took me some time to get used to this album because I was expecting it to be just like the previous album and it wasn't. It has a different character but still a good one. I knew it would be good when I first heard samples of this album, but this album grew on me.

This is the kind of album that I listen to when I need a distraction but don't want to fall asleep to music, yet I don't want the music to make me feel aggitated. This music is energizing. It's always changing and evolving and takes it's time to develop each idea to it's fullest.

It's difficult to describe the Shulman project's music because there doesn't seem to be any other music like it. People will try to compare it to other bands, but I haven't heard any other bands that sound like Shulman.

It's important to note also, that Shulman live is quite a different experience than the studio recordings. Their live music is good too, but don't let it fool you. This music is polished and glistening and has all of the studio magic that you'd expect to surprise you and even more.

Good ambient music.
Shulman is very good. Great ambient music from Israel. I've heard his music on Echoes on NPR.
