Pueblo

by Sismo

Sismo's album unfolds a quire of ethnic voices in the midst of a serene atmosphere. These musicians put a “soul” on a musical genre that sometimes seems to be too much involved with mechanical sounds.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sismo's album unfolds a quire of ethnic voices in the midst of a serene atmosphere. These musicians put a “soul” on a musical genre that sometimes seems to be too much involved with mechanical sounds.

Sismo’s album "Pueblo" is an auditory reflection, free of “cheesiness”, a story made of Arpeggios that each and every one of us can understand our own way.

Peters at CD Baby

Building over a slow guitar motif, skittering electronics and a few choice vocals samples, the opening track on Sismo's "Pueblo" lays the groundwork for the rest of the album. Recalling at times everything from Boards of Canada, Sigur Ros, Bjork, and even latter-era b-sides from Radiohead, this is engaging, experimental and somewhat ambient chillout music. With most of the vocals on thealbum coming from non-English samples, English speakers are forced to listen to simply the melodic and rhythmic quality of the singing, and it becomes quite hypnotic and mesmerizing. While a handful of songs feature traditional vocals, the most interesting stuff comes from the weirder ideas, like the IDM track "Mientras Duerme" or the long, looping, start-stopping "Sueño Androgino." This is electronic music that should appeal to fans of 21st century sounds.
