A little something new
Skitzo Calypso's newest CD is quite a fantastic one. I've been listening to them for I'd say close to 5 years and I've always anticipated when the next CD or show would be. Upon listening to Ghosts I noticed that Skitzo Calypso's sound is maturing and in every way for the better. They've brought about a different sound that I'm loving every minute. It's a great modern rock sound that is unique to normal boring noise I hear on the radio everyday. The only complaint I can honestly bring about this album is that it's an EP. I wish I had more than just 5 songs! Grab yourself a copy and you'll see just what I mean.

Not Your Everyday Rock and Roll
Skitzo Calypso is a band that is not quite punk, not quite metal, not quite pop and thus overall hard to describe. This is what I like the most about the band. The songs are a nice departure from the everyday mainstream music of the genres I mention that you hear over and over again in different forms. They waver between all three styles which makes for some fun listening. The best example of the band's versatility on the third track "Fade Dark Days". It's not quite a ballad, it's kinda got that punk sound to it and ends with a strong rock sound and some pretty cool guitar work at the end.

This is a five song CD that I am very eager to hear translated into a live show this spring. I think "Fade Dark Days" which I already mentioned is actually my second favorite tune on the album. I am really enjoying listening to "Stardust". This tune showcases the rock and roll side of the band and despite it's rather peaceful title is a sort of angry, let you have it sort of tune, with a few mellow breaks here and there. The chorus of "Stardust" is memorable and makes it a very cool tune.

The album represents another strong effort from Skitzo Calypso, and is yet another good album produced by Tony Corelli, who produced and worked with a lot of other bands we love including Loving the Lie, Evolver and many others we listen to and see live regularly. The band has three free songs available for download on the site as well.

If you are tired of the same old thing, get yourself a copy of "Ghosts"!

Skitzo Is Back!!!
Skitzo Calypso has always been one of the more talented bands on the east coast, not only to not break out but just in general. There Discs are always textured w/ atmospheric tones and Brad's brilliant voice. This EP is no different. I find it to be their most mature offering to date. Every song could be on the radio and fit right in. I'm actually gonna stop reviewing and go listen to it again.. Cheers!!!
