Album Notes
Sky Rangers was originally an album concept called "reggae cowboys", put together by Jimmy Foot and George Piburn.
Jimmy Foot is a veteran World Music Producer and musician, best known for his work with The Rhyth-O-Matics, Rod Deal,
Jah Sun, Ska Santas, and Djialy Kunda Kouyate. George Piburn is a renown pedal steel guitarist who is the author of numerous pedal steel instructional videos, and was also the sound engineer who traveled with Bob Marley for the bulk of his career. When Jimmy Foot and George Piburn finally got around to recording this album, after talking about it for 10 years, a band from Canada released an album called "Reggae Cowboys", so this project name was changed to "Sky Rangers", perhaps an even better fit for a couple of hippies. Joined on this album by Rhyth-O-Matics Rudy Ortiz and Joni Haastrup on percussion, Trombonist Wayne Wallace, Melecio Magdaluyo on sax, Louis Fasman on trumpet, Jimmy Sage on drums, and Robin Sylvester on bass, with vocalists Susan Shy, David Frieberg and Linda Imperial, this Sky Rangers CD is varied and unique, eminating what DJ Doug Wendt, the Midnight Dread calls the "Ghost Town Sound".
