Skyward Down creates dynamic songs that grab listeners by the heart. With a style that combines the soul of the singer-songwriter with the occasional intensity of bands like Evanescence, Skyward Down can be best described as "alternative art-rock."
The band is comprised of vocalist/songwriter Kerrie Meacham and instrumentalist/songwriter and producer John "JD" Stefan. Kerrie and JD have worked together since 2008 collaborating on various studio projects and eventually completing a solo CD for Kerrie titled "Something Too Heavy." The writing chemistry from Something Too Heavy eventually turned a different corner and Skyward Down was born as the new vehicle for the duo's music.
Their first effort "A Fair Fall" was released as a digital EP on the last day of 2011. They followed with a single titled "Enemy's Kept," inspired by the Stephenie Meyer novel "The Host" and written with the hope of getting the song included in the soundtrack of the upcoming movie version. In September of 2012 Skyward Down released the single "Vacant Hello" from their forthcoming full-length album "The Absence Of."
A new single, "Painted Wings" was written by the duo as the theme song for a show called The Every Woman Project. The show's creator approached JD and Kerrie about creating a song for the series-in-development and they enthusiastically agreed right away. The song debuted at a Boise, ID screening event of the pilot episode and was performed by JD and Kerrie along with staff and students from the Eagle, ID based School of Rock. Painted Wings captures the essence of what the Every Woman Project is about - "Every woman is beautiful inside and out. We're going to prove it."
