Album Notes
There is a new one!! A new CD!! By Sleepy Joe Tomato!! This CD, entitled 'Honeymoon on Mars', has eleven new songs and an old one, the bonustrack 'Nightmares', which was recorded for Warner Bros in 1983. You can read a hilarious account of the 'ups and downs' of this song on the site now (in Dutch, shortly in English).

'Honeymoon on Mars' was recorded and mixed in six days (in August 2004) at the Yland studio in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This time funds were limited: no symphony-orchestras, big bands, choirs, tambourines, maracas or a triangle; the music is 'basic': it's just guitar, bass, drums, piano, vibraphone and - we had a little money left -a steelpan (in the song 'Christmas in 3005').

The songs, all written by the Dutch singer/songwriter Joan Ter Maten, are 'rootsy'; the music is a mixture of blues, jazz, rock 'n' roll and, occasionally, a hint of bossa nova (listen to the song 'Kissed by a stranger'). And you can waltz to the Christmas song 'Christmas in 3005'.

All lyrics of 'Honeymoon on Mars' can be seen in the weblog of Sleepy Joe Tomato's site: (if you live in Europe and you order all SJT's CDs - four so far - you'll receive a little bag of sun-dried tomatoes for free!).

By the way: it’s possible to download songs of all CDs at Apple-iTunes, if you’re only interested in a couple of songs.

An absolute must for lovers of great lyrics!
I love it!
The songs of S.J.T. are humorous, they are witty, and always there's this tiny little spark of romanticism.
