ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Smadar's music is best described as rhythmic Mediterranean music peppered with a gypsy sound. Smadar's self-titled debut album was recorded in 2004 and has received much praise. Smother Magazine describes it as "Middle Eastern music floating through your body tickling your cerebellum with its delightful strings and complex percussion. Rhythmically it's danceable and whisks you off to the Middle East. You hear the struggles of the area playing out through the Arabic lyrics and haunting vocals."

World Music At Its Best!
This is one of the best CD's I have heard in a long time. Simply put, it is world music at its best. The songs in Arabic are particularly captivating. I highly recommend turning up the volume up on tracks #1 and #7. Close your eyes, and start to dance.

Judith

A wonderful and passionate CD.
Smadar's voice is smooth and filled with emotion. Both she and her musicians have created a superbly multilayered and textured CD.
